“Sustainable building is good,…”
Belgium, woensdag 17 augustus 2011
Belgian CAP’EM partner VIBE starts this autumn a campaign called: “Duurzaam bouwen is goed, bio-ecologisch bouwen is beter”. The aim of this campaign is to make the concept of “bio-ecological building” more known. The campaign focuses on low-energy and water-saving buildings, specifically constructed with eco-materials (‘bio-ecological buildings’), as taken into account in the CAP’EM project.
first page and link to the VIBE brochure The campaign includes awareness-building, education and action.

For this campaign VIBE spreads thousands of posters. People can put these posters on their window so “bio-ecological building” becomes visible in every street.

Apart from that, there is a full educational program for different target public: self-builders, clients, building professionals. This also includes a second edition of the ‘Postgraduate Bio-Ecological building’ at KaHo Sint Lieven in Ghent (starting September 27th), public visits of bio-ecological buildings etc.

We’ll also organize a study trip (October), visiting a.o. some good practices in Brussels, Mouscron and projects of the CAP’EM-lead-partner CD2E. More information www.vibe.be

Design launched for BSK-CiC’s Dover Demonstration Centre for eco-materials in construction
maandag 15 november 2010
One of CAP'EM's UK partners, Chatham based BSK-CiC, is offering a design opportunity to two university students studying architecture. Their brief is to design BSK-CiC’s Dover Demonstration Centre for eco-materials in construction. As part of the EU Interreg IVB funded CAP’EM project, BSK-CiC will be opening the demonstration centre to offer people a hands-on opportunity to experience eco-materials in construction.

Neil Quinn of Central St. Martins and Rafat Jahandideh of UCA-Canterbury have been chosen to provide the designs for the interior of the centre and for the mobile demonstration units. The centre is expected to be launched in February 2011 and is one of six centres being developed in Northwest Europe. It is open to anybody who wants to learn more about eco-materials and will incorporate training in the materials for professionals and for DIYers.

For more information about the centre, go to www.businesslowcarbon.co.uk/capem, call BSK-CiC on 08457 22 66 55 or drop in to visit the centre in the new year.
